ST. MATTHEW'S HOUSE ASKING HELP FOR FOOD
Naples, FL (October 17, 2007) - St. Matthew's House has announced that it is seeing an overwhelming need for dry and canned foods for the pantry and is asking the community for immediate support.
St. Matthew's House needs items for its Community Outreach Program that provides bags of groceries and supplies to individuals and families on the verge of homelessness. While all food items are welcome, the most needed include peanut butter, dry and canned beans, rice, macaroni & cheese, apples sauce, dry and canned milk, and canned meat.
"Our food supplies are lower than usual and it has been particularly difficult this year," stated Vann Ellison, Executive Director. "As our community grows, so grows the poor and their needs." SMH provides groceries and financial assistance to 13,000 individuals and families on the verge of homelessness per year. Bags of groceries are prepared from our food pantry and we distribute $20,000 in food in these bags each year.
To make a food donation, drop off at St. Matthew's House, 2001 Airport Road South Naples, FL 34112 or to make a financial donation visit www.stmatthewshouse.org and click on "Donate Now."
St. Matthew's House provides housing for homeless men, women and women with children. Its soup kitchen serves more than 120,000 meals a year to the hungry and it also provides food packets from its pantry and other support to poor, needy people. In an environment that is both compassionate and disciplined, its recovery program helps those who are less fortunate to rebuild their lives and return as productive members of society.
