» Soup Kitchen
Many
in our community go to bed hungry and of those, many are
children. Providing food to the hungry is critical to the
St. Matthew's House mission. Our Soup Kitchen welcomes and
feeds anyone that is in need. This former fire station at
2691 Airport Road South was our original main facility and
now with donated food and volunteer support provides over
120,000 meals each year. That amounts to over 2 million
meals since we first opened our doors. We provide hunger
relief to our community Monday through Friday, with breakfast
from 5:30 to 6:30 AM, lunch at 11:30 AM to 12 Noon and dinner
from 5:30 to 6:30 PM. Breakfast and dinner are served on
Saturday and Sunday.
"For I was hungry and you gave me
something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink,
...Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and
give you something to drink? ...I tell you the truth, whatever
you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did
for me."
