Wolfe Apartments Property Manager
I dropped out of school in the 7th grade. After many years I got my GED. I was working when I slipped and fell one day, and hurt my back. I was in so much pain that I couldn't work for a year, during which time I became hooked on painkillers and other drugs. I was a single mom with two boys, and my addiction eventually cost us everything, including a place to call home. With no place left to go, we came to St. Matthew's House in 2000. They gave us food and shelter, and I attended counseling, classes and meetings to deal with my addiction and develop my parenting skills. Eventually we were able to move into Wolfe Apartments, which are the transitional apartments that St. Matthew's House owns. We were actually the very first tenants at Wolfe! After getting my life back on track, I decided to make my education a priority. I had my GED, so I was able to go to college. I am proud to say that I now hold a Bachelor's and Masters Degree in Business Administration from Hodges University, and I have a great job! I am also remarried and now back in touch with my daughter, who I gave up 20 years ago when I was in my addiction and could not take care of her. I believe that God put St. Matthew's House there for me and my family. I cannot even begin to express my gratitude for St. Matthew's House and all who support them. I pray that they will be there for the next person or family that needs help.
