Like many after Hurricane
Wilma I found myself without a roof over my head. The day after
I went to St. Matthew's House I was accepted into the program.
The program is designed to help men suffering from alcohol dependencies.
Through counseling and a safe, sober environment, I have found
a new person. Now living at the annex [Soup Kitchen] I am on the
final step back out onto the real world. With new tools provided
by St. Matthew's House and a sober mind.
St. Matt's is a God-send.
If not for them, I feel sure I would be dead. They have helped
me attain recovery and find the Lord again. May God bless them
all.
Jason’s Story
Jason was a young man with no family and a
lot of problems. Struggling with the loss of his grandfather who
cared for him, uneducated, with epilepsy and severe learning disabilities
he found his way to St. Matthew's House.
Here, he found housing and food, structure, spiritual
support and an opportunity to rebuild his life. Today, Jason is
learning to read and working at our thrift store, in our pantry,
our kitchen and wherever he's needed. With his charming smile
and sweet sincerity we are happy to say that Jason has found his
family.
